DJR Racing Announces Groundbreaking CEO Appointment
In a groundbreaking move, DJR Racing has appointed Megan Foster as its new CEO, marking the first time a Supercars squad has entrusted a woman with this pivotal role. Foster, with her impressive background in the racing industry, is set to join the team in February, bringing a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the organization.
Foster's journey to DJR includes a notable stint at Viva Energy, where she worked closely with the Shell brand, a key partner of DJR. Her previous role as executive director at Bapcor, overseeing Autobarn, Autopro, and Midas Retail operations, further solidifies her expertise in the automotive sector. DJR co-owner Ryan Story expressed his enthusiasm for Foster's appointment, highlighting her exceptional capabilities and her deep understanding of the Shell V-Power Racing Team brand.
This appointment comes on the heels of a recent management restructuring, an extended deal with star driver Brodie Kostecki, and the recruitment of young talent Rylan Gray. Story emphasized the team's ambitious goals, aiming to win championships and attract top talent both on and off the track. Foster's arrival is seen as a strategic move to propel DJR Racing towards new heights.
Foster herself expressed her excitement, stating, 'To be working again with Dick, Brett, Shaun (Ralph), and Ryan, along with the entire Shell V-Power Racing Team, is a real honor.' She highlighted the significance of the Shell brand in DJR's history and expressed her eagerness to contribute to the team's success. Johnson also noted that Foster's appointment is not without precedent, recalling the success of Wayne Cattach, who transitioned from Viva Energy to DJR and was eventually inducted into the Supercars Hall of Fame.
Despite being the first woman to lead a Supercars team as CEO, Foster is not the first woman in a top management role. Betty Klimenko, founder and co-owner of Erebus Motorsport, previously held a similar position with Shannen Kiely as managing director from 2020 to 2024. DJR Racing's groundbreaking appointment of Megan Foster as CEO is a testament to the team's commitment to diversity and excellence, setting a precedent for the industry.
