LAFCA Award Voting: The Los Angeles Film Critics Association is currently voting on this year's best films, performances, and technical achievements. The Best Cinematography award was the first to be revealed, with Adolpho Veloso for Train Dreams named the winner. The association previously honored filmmaker and screenwriter Philip Kaufman with the Career Achievement Award in October, praising his diverse and influential work. Kaufman's contributions include his early absorption of independent and European New Wave styles, his genre-defining work in the '70s, and his historical epics like The Right Stuff and The Unbearable Lightness of Being. Last year, Anora won Best Picture, and it went on to receive an Oscar nomination and ultimately win the Academy Award. The LAFCA Awards will feature gender-neutral acting categories for the fourth year in a row. The voting is ongoing, with categories including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Lead Performance, Best Supporting Performance, Best Screenplay, Best Documentary/Nonfiction, Best Cinematography, Best Music/Score, Best Production Design, Best Editing, Best Animation, Best Film Not in the English Language, and the Douglas Edwards Experimental Film Prize. New Generation winners will also be announced. Stay tuned for the latest updates on the winners!
