Peter Rabbit Art Trail in Newcastle & North Tyneside: A Charity Adventure! (2026)

The Peter Rabbit art trail, an interactive and whimsical experience, has arrived in Newcastle and North Tyneside, captivating locals and visitors alike. This trail, inspired by the beloved Beatrix Potter character, is the fourth such initiative by St Oswald's Hospice, aiming to raise funds for the charity while bringing joy to the community. With 96 colorful sculptures adorning the streets, the trail promises an enchanting journey through the world of Peter Rabbit until September 14th.

What makes this trail particularly special is its dual purpose. While the larger sculptures, designed by artists, will be auctioned off in October to support the hospice's operations, the smaller ones, crafted by schools and youth groups, will be returned to their creators. This not only fosters community engagement but also encourages creativity and collaboration among young people.

The trail is free to enjoy, but an interactive app and sticker book are available for purchase, offering an enhanced experience and contributing directly to the hospice's running costs. As Nikki Maguire, a representative from the charity, explains, the trail is a unique and joyful venture that not only brings smiles but also addresses the increasing demand for hospice care.

"It's a lovely thing for us as a charity to be associated with," Maguire said. "It brings so much joy to everyone, it's such a big talking point across the city all summer. It's just something a little bit different and makes people smile and it's cross-generational. It's open to all so we just really hope everyone gets involved and enjoys it."

This trail follows in the footsteps of previous successful interactive art trails, such as the Great North Snowdogs, Elmer's Great North Parade, and Shaun on the Tyne, each leaving a lasting impact on the community. The Peter Rabbit trail, with its charming sculptures and interactive elements, is set to become another beloved summer attraction, offering a unique blend of art, fun, and community spirit in the heart of Newcastle and North Tyneside.
