Underwater 'Time Capsules' Hold the Key to Australia's Prehistory

The species included familiar Australian animals like cows, kangaroos, emus, sheep, pigs, dingoes, rabbits, possums, and quolls, who haven't been resident in the area for over a century. The caves' unique environment, with minimal bacteria and no weathering, preserves the bones in a pristine state, akin to a time capsule.
This discovery raises a deeper question: what other secrets do these underwater caves hold? The team's work is just the tip of the iceberg, and they're already finding new species, like a giant extinct kangaroo, in the Green Waterhole.
